Sean resisted the urge to speak brashly. He was definately pissed off...did the other have no sense of honour? You didn't just go weasling into people's lives...no matter what their profession was. The problem was that she didn't have a sense of respect and that irked him. She hadn't respected him in the bar and she certainly didn't respect him after he had tried to help her. Instead she had betrayed his trust and she still seemed to believe that life was some big game and she had won the goddamn jackpot.
He said nothing and moved past her smoothly, continuing to walk down the darkened street. Turning a corner and continuing to walk...right into a metal bar. Pain dazzled his eyes as his hands flew to his face, shielding his head from any further injury. He crumpled to his knees, cursing under his breath as he felt a trickle of blood run through his fingers and he could taste copper on his lips.
What would a metal bar be doing hovering in the middle of the air? It wouldn't.
Through the blood he managed to look up and found a half dozen men and one sly looking woman with a great amount of cleavage. One of the men was holding 'said' pole and a couple of others held pistols in their hands...this had to be a cruel joke.

"Hey, we're not finished talking yet," Yevrin called out, annoyed when Sean hurried past her. She quickly went after him, went around the corner, and saw Sean on the ground and seven people who looked just as law abiding as she was. 'What cursed twist of Fate is this?' She walked up to where Sean was on the ground and gave the group a puzzled look. She had a her hands near, but not actually on her sword and a dagger. She looked down at Sean to see what the matter was with him, and glimpsed the dark blood in the moonlight. 'He's going to be useless in a fight,' she sighed internally. Aloud, she exclaimed in a worried tone, "Dear, are you alright? What's the matter? Excuse me, who are you people? Did you do this? What has he ever done to you?"

A few pairs of eyes moved to the other girl, perplexed with whom she was but...it made no difference. One of the men ignored her completely and moved to his knees. Sean, being distracted by the intense pain in his face, only noticed that the other was going through his pockets near the end of the man's little journey and made an attempt to protest but the other had already stood and kicked him sharply in the ribs...bringing him to the ground again.
"Twenty bucks," grunted the man, "That's it."
The man with the bar sighed, "You there, girlfriend," he said with a nod and one of the men cocked their pistol and turned it towards her. "$500 and we won't beat him up," women were easy to take advantage of and she had but on a threatening look in her eyes. Who knew what people were capable of in these parts and all it seemed was that they wanted cash.

Yevrin watched as the man stole the twenty that she had not been able to get from Sean. 'Muggers, they should definitely have more money on them than any drunkards would. As long as I haven't gotten them too early in the night,' she thought. She noticed that one had a pistol aimed at her, and there was another man with one as well. 'Long distance range weapons should be taken out first. Then deal with this one making demands.' She knelt down next to Sean, pretending to look over him to see his wounds. This was just to bring her hands more naturally to the height of the heel of her boots. The heels were hollow and in each was a small throwing dagger. She removed both and after 'examining' Sean stood up with her hands behind her back. She pretended to look frightened, and in a small voice answered, "Alright, I'll give you want you want..." She quickly brought her daggers to the front, and threw them at the two pistol man. Two thunks and a shriek later and the daggers landed in a right shoulder and a left chest. Yevrin had not waited for the daggers to land before she drew her sword and hip dagger, and held the sword's point against the man making demands. "If you can take it from me," she finished, flashing him an evil smile. "But I get to keep whatever I can take from you and your 'friends'. Unless you want to save me trouble and just give it to me now."

The man did not seem frightened by the girls little act...there were more of them than there were of her and if she wasn't going to give them what they wanted then she was going to suffer the concequences. "I would advise you back up..." he said calmly, shifting his foot a little so that it just so happened to place itself above Sean's hand...which was bracing his body as he struggled back to his knees. Then he shoved it down hard...a grunt of pain was all that he recieved...but it was pain nonetheless.
"Of your boyfriend will lose a hand..." he said with a smile, twisitng his foot back and forth.
Sean gritted his teeth in pain, not moving his hand at all so he would not worsen the damage. "She's not my girlfriend," he finally managed to growl, "And she's not going to give you any money because she has no relation to me." He lowered a hand to his shoe and removed several fifty dollar bills, holding them out for the other. "Take these and please remove your foot from my hand."
The other reached down and took the bills in his hand, "Much thanks," he smirked and removed his foot as requested. He looked to the woman, "At least he had sense..." he then took a couple of steps backward, tossing the bills to the woman who promptly slid them down her shirt with a satisfied smile.
Sean moved to his feet, holding his hurt hand tenderly. The one side of his face coated in blood from a nice gash above his eyebrow, he looked to Yevrin. "Don't do me any favours," he commented, straightening. He bowed his head towards the muggers who seemed disinterested now that they had cash for their drugs...and whatnot. "Good night," he said and made his way through them calmly.

Yevrin watched the money exchange hands. What rightfully should have been her money. Sean had been her target originally thus if anyone was supposed to get his money it was her. She was annoyed at Sean though for more than just the fact that he had that much money and she had not gotten it. She had judged him to be of stronger character and he had just handed the money over without a fight. "I guess I was wrong about you," she called out to him cuttingly, "You're just a weakling." She looked over at the man who had crushed his hand and the woman with the money. "Luckily, I hate it when people pick on the weak. It perfectly justifies this." She ran forward, and slashed at the man's leg with which he had trampled Sean's hand. Then back-handed the woman with the hilt of her dagger. "I never said our deal was off," she said coolly, glaring at the man as he clutched his leg. "Do you want to give me the money or shall I take it. It makes no difference to me, except the dry cleaning bill. Blood is such a pain to get out."

Sean turned around, looking at Yevrin. "Let them have the money," he said sternly, just as several more guns came out into the open. The man with the cut leg lowered it to the ground, testing it a little before resting on it completely.
"These aren't just muggers that you can fool around with," Sean said, moving back to her and using his free hand to grab her wrist and begin to pull her from the circle. He looked to the men, "Please forgive her...she has no idea what she's doing."
"Do you not see the symbol on their sleeve?" he hissed, "They're not muggers, muggers don't travel in packs. They're a section of a street gang...one who probably won't resist hunting down anyone who comes close to you if you steal from them. So instead of being cocky show a little modesty and just leave."
Though he didn't give her the choice, tugging her with his good hand until she was out of the group. "That money is my emergency money and that was an emergency...unless I wanted my family killed as they walked home one night," Jamison was terrible with thugs...he had been shot once because of that. "If you steal it back then I'm involved and they die. So stay out of it."

Yevrin stayed silent, letting herself be dragged out of the circle. But only that far. When taking on numerous opponents, being trapped in a circle was bad. The benefit of the circle though, was that when they were facing inward, their backs were turned away from any opponent from the outside. They had apparently lost interest in her, since Sean was trying his best to take her away. Just because they were ignoring her now did not mean they would do so indefinitely. If they were as ruthless as Sean said, they would not refrain from hunting her down and dealing with her. As well, she doubted they would leave a target with as much on hand cash as Sean alone. Most likely, they would follow him back to his place and later rob it, and Fate have mercy on anyone unlucky enough to be there when they did. Only option: kill all of them so there was no one to identify her or Sean to the rest of the gang. "You really have no common sense," she whispered, "Just run or get down." She ripped her arm out of his grip. Sword was threw one man, dagger in another, before they could turn to their companions' warnings. She withdrew her sword but kept her dagger in the back of one, using it to help leverage him up against her. A flesh shield against the bullets that were now being fired at her.

"It's called honour!" Sean yelled at her furiously, slamming his foot into the ground. "It means more to them than violence!" Violence brought only further violence...was she so slow witted that she couldn't see that? Revenge was the thing that fueled gang violence. In a huff he moved over to the woman, seated away from the danger and he leaned forward, whispering in her ear. She gasped, placing a hand to her mouth and looking to him in shock.
"Really?" she questioned an Sean nodded firmly, she immediatly moved her hand into her bra, removing the money and passing it back to him. He took it in a firm hand and she stood, making a slashing movement across her throat. The gunmen stopped but kept their guns trained on the enemy. She skipped to the leader, leaning up to whisper in his ears. The expression on his face was something few men in his position let show...fear.
"Paisely Smith?" he questioned, looking to Sean in shock. "What did you do to your hair...and your eyes?" All attention immediatly turned to Sean, who blushed slightly.
"Wig...coloured contacts..." he said with a smile, "I didn't want to screw up my cover but...that woman forced my hand."
"Lower weapons," the man said and with a grin he stepped close to Sean, wrapping him in a bear-like hug. Sean hissed in pain and the other lowered him with a wide grin. "Terribly sorry boy," he said with a chuckle, patting Sean's shoulder. "I had no idea 'twas you...did I break your hand?"
Sean shrugged, "Doesn't matter, easily fixed."
"The Great Paisely Smith..." the man sighed, "You can take a lot of damage." He chuckled happily and Sean shot a look at Yevrin...an unhappy 'look-what-you-made-me-do' look but also one that told her to keep silent and just put the weapons away.

Yevrin was stunned by the change in atmosphere. It had been about to be a blood bath, and now it seemed more like a damn family reunion. She saw the man's glare and shrugged it off, not caring and certainly not respecting anything that he wanted. It was only out of care for her blades that she removed her dagger so she could wipe it and the sword clean before sheathing them. Sensing that for some unknown reason that Sean would be able to keep them from trying to kill her -at least for the moment- she walked and retrieved both her throwing daggers, which had been dropped to the ground by the men who had been pierced with them. She still calmly wiped the blades, paying them more affection and attention than she did any of the trash she had wounded. She did not feel remorseful, she did not feel guilty, and she definitely did not feel intimidated. After placing the daggers back in her boots, she inspected her shirt to see how much blood had stained it, as if oblivious to being the presence of a gang of men she had just been ready to kill. Quite a bit hand landed on the cuffs of her sleeves, but not enough that it required the tailoring of a new shirt. She loosed the ribbons of her shirt at her wrists while she did this. She walked over and stood by Sean, making sure that her back was to none in the group. She crossed her arms over her chest as if she were annoyed. In truth she was far past annoyed and bordering searing anger, and also, the purpose of crossing her arms was not to show her mood but to let her slide her hands up her sleeves to finger comfortingly her arm blades. In a cold tone that was the opposite of her current fiery emotions she asked Sean, "Just what in Chaos is going on here?"

Sean shot her a look for a moment, "It's nothing," he said calmly.
"Paisely helped us out a while back when one of our members disappeared," said the leader happily. "We hired him to help us find who had killed our friend so we could exact revenge and he worked so diligently..."
"Turns out their friend had been hit by a car and was in the hospital, not kidnapped or murdered," Sean said with a nod, "Has he woken up just yet?" He questioned innocently, placing a smile on his lips...it was difficult to manage.
The man shook his head, "Not yet...but we hope it will be soon. And...I apologize for what happened, we're in need of some more money...for things that are not as honourable as you would like."
"Yes, well," Sean grinned, "I can't change everyone's opinion." He reached back to grab Yevrin's forearm firmly. His wounded hand limp by his side, "I need to go get some medical attention. Maybe I'll see you later..." He then turned, hissing to Yevrin, "Let's go..." Before leaving the alley completely.

Yevrin let herself be led away from the gang until they had turned a corner and were out of their sight. Then she wrenched her arms out of his grip. She brushed on the sleeve where he had held her, then rubbed her hand on her pants as if she had been dirtied by his touch. He had been an associate of those people. They knew him; they had not recognized him, but after being introduced as 'Paisely' they had welcomed him as one their own. But if he had known them, why had he not just done something in the beginning? Why tell her they would kill his family, hunt people down ruthlessly? Did he think her so weak-hearted to back down from a fight she knew she could win? Speaking with constrained anger, biting off the end of each word, she asked again, "What was that all about? One minute you're getting mugged, the next they're embracing you like a brother. If you are such good friends with them why not clear the misunderstanding at the beginning?"

"Because then they recognize me in this appearance, which could blow a future cover in another situation," he explained with a shrug. It would be a waste if he went someplace and had someone shout out his name...or if one of his enemies infiltrated the gang and got information on his appearance. But, while he had debated on the issue, it was better than seeing one of those men get hurt by this reckless woman.
"You should understand that," he said calmly, "I already explained it to you earlier...how knowing someone and their profession could potentially be dangerous. They know two of my appearances now along with one of my names."

"Well then if you did not want to tell all seven of them your other identity you could have at least somehow indicated it to me," she huffed. "Do you think I enjoy getting into fights to the possible death for no profit?" Apart from being angry with Sean, Yevrin was also very disappointed about not being able to get all that money she knew that woman would have been carrying. "Seven bodies are very inconvenient in a peaceful town and I hate having to wash out blood on my sleeves. Or did you actually think it would be a good idea to leave things to the last minute before explaning."

"I seriously thought you would listen to me a 'drop it'," he said, bringing out the fact that he had told her more than once to stop. That was why trust was so important to him. But she hadn't trusted him when he told her to leave it alone, when he had told her he was fine and when he had tried to drag her away. But she hadn't believed him. "You should have trusted me...but you never did."
