Lena abruptly opened the door and slammed it to try and prevent the storming blizzard from comming in. She shook off the white powder from her hair and jacket and finally noticed that the entire bar was staring at her from the loud bang.
"So sorry!" she quickly replied, and removed her coat and returned to her haven behind the bar.
Winter was not her thing. seriousley. Being of fire, you'd think she'd stay somewhere where the heat never leaves... but Lamiere was too welcoming and friendly of a place to abandon...
For the next couple hours she served drinks to countless amount of people, smiling and having a fun time, for the holidays were fast approaching and this was a time of cheer and happiness...
Through her jumble of thoughts, she suddenly realized that she hadn't informed Freyn, the new Hafenstadt Inn Clerk/Cook, where the Inn was!!! Oh great, my first shot at being a boss and I've already screwed it up! How am I supposed to find this kid???
She didn't know what else to do, or how to find him, so she continued to serve drinks, hoping Freyn would be able to find his way.

Freyn had spent the entire night and a good part of the day searching for the Hafenstadt Inn. He had wandered up and down the streets of the town, accidentally repeating several streets in the confusion of the blizzard. He was terribly cold, since he had not expected such fierce weather so soon, and was making due with a damp, worn cloak. He was not going to give up though. He was determined to find the Inn and get to his job only slightly late. Just as he was starting to lose the feeling in his feet, he caught a glimpse of the inn's sign, and ran towards it as quickly as his frozen feet would let him. He made it to the door and rushed in, though he paused long enough outside to do the polite thing and knock the snow from his boots. He closed the door quickly, not wanting to let the cold in with him, and stood shivering in the doorway, not entirely sure what to do next. "Mistress Lena, are you here," Freyn called out, scanning the room trying to find her.

Lena quickly looked up to see who was calling her, and saw it was Freyn at the doorway! "Oh my gosh! Freyn! I am SO sorry about not informing you where the Inn was! I automatically thought you knew where it was. You must be freezing! Come in and sit at the bar, I'll get you something to eat..."

Freyn caught sight of Lena at the bar when she called back to him. He bowed in her direction before he walked stiffly to the bar, still frozen from the cold. He collapsed into a seat at the bar, and smiled up at his employer. "It is perfectly alright," he assured her. "I should have thought to ask you for directions when I applied for the job. I am perfectly fine, except for the cold. Please do not go to any trouble on my account." He shivered and hugged himself close, rubbing his arms to try to keep himself warm, and dislodged clumps of snow from his cloak in the process. He laughed nervously, and asked, "I do hope you can forgive me for being late on my first day?"

Lena, fuddled by Freyn naivety, shook her head and replied "It's no problem, just don't let it happen again... So before your first day of work we should probably feed you, you must be tired from walking around all night!" She was surely not used to being a boss, so unaware of the fact that being late was a bad thing, and you usually don't feed your employees before their first day of work. Turning over a new leaf was hard for an assasin, since a lack of business in Lamiere for her line of work, not to mention that the cold winter wasn't friendly to her flame-like nature..
Never the less, she continued to bustle around the bar and kitchen fixing Freyn something to eat and drink, while the customers were cursing and yelling to be served. "HEY! IF I GET ANYMORE LIP FROM THE LOT OF YOU, YOU'RE GONNA GET TOSSED!!! COMPRENDE???" she screamed at the people in the bar, in a frightening tone. The entire Inn went silent, except for a cough and a coin drop in the background... "Anyways, here you go Freyn!", Lena exclaimed, suddenly chipper, as she put a steaming plate of Lamierian chicken and mixed greens in front of him, along with a cold glass of apple juice...
Taking a seat beside Freyn, Lena took a cigarette out of her breast pocket, snapped her fingers and a flame appeared glowing on her fingertips. She lit the cigarette and said "So, tell me about yourself, I need to know you if I'm going to be working with you..."

Freyn was at a momentary loss for words as Lena went from pleasant to frightening, then back to pleasant in the blink of an eye. To cover it up he took a bite of the chicken. It was very good, the herbs and spices in its creation spreading warmth from his taste-buds to the rest of his body. Then remembering his manners, he quickly chewed it and swallowed. "Thank you," he choked out, "It is delicious." He eyed the cigarette warily for his sister had told him it was a filthy habit, likely to kill any foolish enough to indulge in it. Even having it near him, especially while he was eating was a bit distasteful, but he did not think commenting on it to his employer was the wisest idea. He did not wish to offend her, especially since she had been kind enough to forgive him for being late and serve him dinner. So he proceeded to answer her question. "There really is not much to tell about myself. As I told you when we met my name is Freyn DeCaent. I have just come into manhood having entered my nineteenth year. I am the son of my father's second wife, and am the second son, third child. So any inheritance I may receive would be severely diminished, the bulk going to my half-brother and to my half-sister's dowry. My mother had other plans and had me educated and trained in a manner fit for a lord. Sometimes she may have gotten a bit too zealous in her preparations for me. I would have preferred to become a monk, but mother would not here of it, and there seemed to be some sort of tension between my brother and myself. Needless to say, castle life was a bit constrictive and complicated. My sister advised that I go travelling for a bit when the oppertunity arose. So I decided to go journeying, to learn new experiences and help people that cross my path, and am currently here in Coast Lamiere. I find myself without any money so applied for the job that you most generously hired me for."

Paying too close attention to Freyn's story, she realized that her cigarette was quite close to the young man's face, which looked quite unhappy at the moment due to the smell of the cigarette which she loved so much. Lena figured what's the problem with smoking cigarettes anyways? besides, she can't die from its carcinogens anways... infact, she couldn't die period...
Quickly, she put it out by squishing it into a cigarette pit of cinders. "Sorry," she said, for she really did feel quite bad about your actions... "Where is your family from again? surely you miss them? I mean, it must be hard to hear from your family that they'd like you to leave... not in those terms exactly... that was a bit harsh. sorry."
Lena softly smiled at Freyn and continued, "I'm glad I gave you a chace to make something of yourself!" She then adverted her gaze and stepped behind the bar once more...

Freyn breathed a small sigh of relief when Lena put out her cigarette, then continued eating the dinner she had made for him. He listened to her questions, though was surprised by her last comment. Clearing his throat from a swig of the apple juice, he answered, "Yes, I am most appreciative for the oppertunity. Thank you. To answer your questions, I am sure you have never heard of where I am from. I have been traveling about a year now and have left it far behind. If you wish to know though, my father's holding was called Ahkizn. I do miss them because they are my family, but I only truly miss the company of my sister, Lorhli." He paused for a moment, then continued, confused, "I am not entirely sure what you meant by your last comment. My sister suggested that I could go journeying but no one told me to leave. My mother was sending me to stay with someone, but I... well I probably seem like a terrible son but I ran away. So no one told me to go away, I left myself. I am sure Lorhli only suggested the idea because she thought it would make me happy..."

"Oh, I'm sorry! i didn't mean it like that! its just families usually don't approve of the youngest son leaving home to learn about the world. its nice that your family trusts you!" Lena replied, feeling bad for her misunderstanding.
"Your sister sounds wonderful, she really does care alot about you."

Freyn had not wished to think that his sister could have had any ulterior motive for suggesting his journey, so was relieved when Lena said such complementary things about her. He smiled at her misunderstanding though. "You are actually quite right. My parents, well at least my mother, would definitely not have approved of my leaving home to explore the world. Her idea of journeying is in a caravan of numerous servants to a distant relation's keep. I am afraid she has probably had numerous fits since I left. It was purely me and my sister's idea. Which is why I am actually quite scared for when I actually do have to return." He took another bite of his dinner, then after swallowing asked, "If you do not mind telling me, what is your tale?"

Surprised of his inquiry, Lena lowered her head, trying to rethink the past couple of months' events.
"Well I'm from Greece, and I've never really known who my parents were. I'm assuming they didn't want me because of my unusual powers...". Lena snapped her fingers, and instantly another ball of flame appeared at her fingertip... She paused for a moment, staring into the flame as if in a reminiscent state.
Lena blew out the the pyre and continued. "Anyways, I lived in several foster homes until my legs were strong enough to take me far from Kavala, my hometown. I traveled around for many years, having the odd job here and there, then somehow stumbled into being an assassin for hire. But it was good money, and I wouldn't compromise anyone else's well-being, except for my own. and I can't die anyways so its ideal."
Lena spilled out her dark but surreal past so naturally, that it seemed as if the killings didn't affect her the slightest bit... Because they really didn't.
Freyn seemed to just stare for what seemed like forever

Freyn was shocked about how open his new employer was with her dark and blood-filled past. As well as the power she seemed to posses. He took the last bite of his dinner and finished off the last of his juice, to let his surprise settle. Feeling very awkward, he laughed somewhat nervously, then started babbling, "Well, that is definitely some tale. An assassin... you must be very powerful or skilled or both. I would never have the stomach for that kind of work. The blood... but, um, yeah. I never would have guessed. You do not seem like that type. I mean-" He broke off and a slight blush crept across his face. Flustered, he scratched the back of his head nervously, continued with a bit more composure. "I am sorry. I did not intend to pry into your past. I apologize if I have given any offense."

Lena knew that her tale was too direct, but she had nothing to hide. She quickly replied, "Don't worry about it Freyn, I'm not offended. I'm trying to make friends now, while I live here in Lamiere. If others need my services, so be it. But If you are a friend of mine, which you are, then I will never hurt you. Don't be alarmed..."
Suddenly, Lena's attention turned to some commotion outside the tavern, which could hardly be heard by a human ear. Her facial expression quickly changed from being content to angry.
Lena ran towards the entrance of the Inn and balled up her fists, causing balls of flame to erupt from both her hands. She approached the cold outdoors and confronted the speaker....

Freyn was startled by Lena's sudden change of mood. He became even more confused when she ran out of the inn. As well as a bit worried as she had caused the fire to reappear in her hands, and it was obvious that this time it was not meant to show off her power. He might have followed her to see what was wrong except he then became acutely aware of the inn's patrons that had waited not too patiently for service during his dinner and conversation with Lena. It would be rude to ignore them any longer, and it was now his job to serve them. He quickly placed his used dishes in the kitchen and started to see to the customers and clean up the vacated tables. He did not like the thought of Lena outside possibly facing trouble alone, however, she had plainly told him that she was capable of taking care of herself. She would probably want him in here manning the bar rather than abandoning his post to check on her.

Lena could hear the sudden rumble of words exchanging outside of the Inn doors... "...Have you heard of a young woman named Lena Kaligaris? I've come to..... take her home."
That last sentence was insincere, the shaking in the speaker's voice attested to that...
Lena burst through the Inn doors with both fists aflame. The speaker was shrouded in a hooded cloak, shadows hiding their face. The Lamierian they were speaking to, seemed scared of Lena's ferocity and scurried off into the darkness....
A pair of glowing eyes gleamed from underneath the hood. "Come Lena, dear, your time in this place is up."
She grinned a sinister grin, her green eyes glowed and changed to the color of ember. Growling, she said, "There's no way you're taking me from here, this is where I belong. I've made a place for myself now, I'm not going anywhere."
She angrily clapped her hands together and a pillar of flame shot from her palms, striking the mystery man to the ground. Flames danced accross his cloak, but he somehow managed to get up and extinguish them by dusting off his shoulders.
"We will return for you, my child" the figure said, then retreated to the shadows of night.
Lena, confused as ever, wondered, Why would he return for me? How dare he try to make things right...
Although still angered by this mystery man's plea, her eyes returned to the natural leaf green, signalling her calming spirit. She quickly walked out of the cold wintery scene, opened the Inn's doors and then slammed them with a ferocity that shook the Inn. This slamming was not as fierce as the one when she first arrived.
Unaware of the staring gazes of the patrons, Lena walked quickly behind the bar and grabbed a large bottle of Firewhisky and a glass, then sat down in an empty stool at the bar...
