Another day...another set of scars...That was the thought that raced through Rach's mind as he walked up the stairs to his lone office on the top floor...of the psychiatric ward. Rach had found a solid job in the hospital and he was enjoying helping the people here get back on their feet. He loved seeing them become people again after a hit on the head. Which was something he was trying to avoid at present.
He was climbing the stairs at a leisurely pace...his piles of papers cradled in his arms. 'Don't trip...don't trip...don't trip...' he chanted to himself, like a mantra that would ward away his bad luck. He bit his lip, trying to find the next step...when his foot slipped he knew what was about to happen.
In a flurry of papers Rach's footing slipped and he slid down a flight of stairs, banging up his knees in the process. His hands flew up to his face, sacrificing his flying papers...he knew how much it hurt to have your head split open. When he hit the wall and stopped, his pain letting out a brief sear of pain, he lowered his hands...seeing a trail of blood coming down the stairs. One glance at his pants, that had rolled up during the fall, revealed to him that the blood had come from his knees. He sighed, lowering the pant legs properly and moving to pick up his papers.

Tobiee wasn't exactly sure what had made him wander into this part of the hospital, or even the hospital itself, but he did find it oddly... pleasent? As he wandered through the area, he had caught the occasional sight of a fluffy-looking padded wall. They looked... comfortable. He wasn't exactly sure what the purpose of this building was, but it seemed nice enough, and curious enough, for him to explore it.
He had just been running his hand along a wall when he heard a thud from the end of the hallway he was in. Curious, he shifted into his little snake-shape and slightered quickly to the source of the sound, finding a pleasant-looking man on the floor infront of him. He could taste the blood in the air, and he slithered around the man, stopping in front of the trail of blood. Flicking his little head from side to side, he found the source of blood, the man's pant, or well, legs.
With a hiss, he shifted back into his human-shape, standing over the man. Frowning, he crouched down in front of the guy's legs and ran his fingers lightly through the air over each knee, and then turned and did the same to part of the blood on the ground, causing it to visibly fade slowly. He stood up again and looked down at the man,
"Oh, I hope you don't mind... y'know, if you needed that blood or something..."

Tobiee stared at the proferred hand for a moment, unsure of what Rach meant by it, but he quickly recalled seeing some people shaking hands before and briefly took the other man's hand.
"Oh... so this is a... hospital? Um, what exactly is a hospital...?"
He stared blankly at Rach for a moment before adding,
"And I'm Tobiee..."

((sorry for screw up, this is the THIRD post in the thread))
Rach started with a hop on the ground, scuffling backwards in surprise when a snake appeared and miraculously transformed into a person. He started dumbly at him for a while until he felt the pain in his body ebb away...another miracle. He looked down at his knees and found them to be healed...completely...
He lifted a hand to adjust his glasses atop his nose so he could inspect more closely and saw no visible hint of his recent tumble. "Amazing," he whispered to himself as he looked up to the young man's face. He stared blankly for a bit before he lapsed back into a friendly manner. "Where are my manners today?" he joked jovilly, thrusting out a welcoming hand. "Thank you so much...I don't believe I deserved such a favour."
"I'm Rach, Rach Jaworski," he said, introducing himself brightly. "I work here, at the hospital. You are?"

((and this is the fifth))
"A hospital is where sick people go in hopes of having professionals find ways to cure their illness," Rach said informatively, shaking the hand lightly. He withdrew with a smile. "Though I don't think you'd be in such a place with those powers you seem to possess...healing..." He pointed to the boy's hands. "How did...you do that?" He looked at the hands and then back to Tobiee's face and then back down to his hands. "Are you a healer?"

Tobiee thought back to his brief times in his human-shape and couldn't really remember ever healing before. He hadn't even been thinking about what he was doing when he had healed Rach and cleared up the blood. He had just wanted the blood to go away.
"Umm... I honestly have no idea how I healed you, or cleared the blood. I'm not used to my human body, so I don't know what I can or can't do with it. I'm technically only a little snake, as you saw. That's my 'true' form and I'm just a normal snake. I met... another one of my kind though, another snake who could shapeshift into a human, and he... I think he had some sort of healing powers, so I guess it's just something that comes with being in my human shape?"
He frowned, a bit disturbed at his newfound ability,
"I just don't know... I'm really out of tune with anything but the animal world..."

"I see...." Rach said, deciding against pursuing the matter further. Some people found their past to be a sensitive subject, he was one of them. However, he was obliged to answer any questions about his past and he would never hold back telling them the full truth. His life was worth sharing, a life full of mistakes and problems but also full of journeys and lessons. If it could help someone learn something then he was willing to share it with the world. However, he did not know if this person should accept such a story.
"That's fine, you must find it comfortable there," Rach began. "I'm not very social myself with humans but...since I am one I find that I have to."

"Ahhh... so, um, who are you besides a worker at this hospital? Do you have any abilities? So you're just a human, not an animal or divine creature?"
Tobiee didn't meet many humans, actually he didn't mean many anything for that matter, as he usually kept to himself slithering around in different forests. This was one of the previously rare, but now frequently increasing, times he ventured out of his little world and tried to learn more about the bigger picture, the world at large. This man seemed nice enough, so maybe he could learn a bit from him.

"Well..." Rach said slowly, that was a complicated matter. "I was born into a family of light elementals but unfortunately...I have no powers of an elemental, at least...none powerful enough to do anything that anyone can see. So I prefer to be called a human for I'm nothing more superior..."
He paused, "And I don't believe I'm anywhere belong them either..." He chuckled, lifting a hand to scratch the back of his neck. "I'm just a regular Joe...who decides to help people the only way he can." He lifted a sheet of paper, "With an education."

"Hm, well wanting to help people is admirable, so that makes you more than just a regular 'Joe'. Not many can look beyond themselves and recognize the needs of others. It's terrible in the animal world, if you're of another species you're only thought of so much as 'Are you a threat?' or 'Can I eat you?'. These are actual questions I've been asked, actually."
He grinned, thinking how strange it would be if humans asked eachother such things,
"And so, once those questions have been answered, there is no more interaction. One could go for months without ever being approached by another. It's very lonely, actually. I was very surprised to see humans actually talking to eachother, interested in eachother. So to see people who care for others, I find it a very lovely way of living. To help those who are hurt... well, in my world, you're ignored, left for dead."
He paused, looking at the sheet of paper,
"So this education, you mean schooling? Like, being taught how to read and write, maths and history?"

"Initially yes," Rach responded, bringing the paper close to his face so he could read it. It was a patient information sheet, one of his mentally unstable patients...who happened to also be anorexic and disillusioned with life. One of the more interesting ones actually, she was a wonderful girl...intelligent...just down on life luck.
"But you can go pretty far..." he continued, "With math and science, they branch off into so many things. And then there are the arts courses, wonderful stuff. Though I persued medical sciences I was always interested in sociology and psychology. Everything is incredibly interesting at higher levels."
"Being an animals sounds interesting though...not relaxing but...different, in a good way," he pointed out.

"Arts?" Tobiee said the unfamiliar word softly, letting it sink into his memory. "I've never heard of that before. What is it? And sociology, psychology? Ahh... I'm sorry, I have little knowledge of such things..."
He felt that he should know such things and was a little frustrated at his lack of knowledge. That was always a bit of a problem when interacting in the human world. As a snake, everything was straight forward, everything was learnt through experience and not prior knowledge of something or someone else.
"Yes... being an animal is nice. It's very... simple. The way of life is straight forward... eat, sleep, survive. Also, to keep your species going, but for me, I've actually never met another of my own specific snake species, which is a little sad. Humans have it easy, you're all of the same species, despite physical differences! I hope I'll have it easier in that way, living as human..."
