The large waterfall crashed into the creek which snaked through the Ember Forest. Near the base of the waterfall, Zentesh sat, breathing in the water vapours that escaped into the air with the crashing against rock. The island had become peaceful at late. No need for a mercenary, a priest or a healer. Coast Lamiere had become a utpoia of sorts.
Now here he sat, clearing his mind and thinking of the event of the past year. He met one or two people, not really anyone looking for a mercenary, or a healer. He attended some events, he climbed some mountains, he made discoveries that people would take lifetimes to achieve. But deep down, he was lonely.
His eyes slid open as he played with soft dirt beneath him. In the ground he drew a symbol of his clan. It's been years since he had been home. Perhaps now it was time to leave and go back.

"Shoot, shoot, shoot," Sean hissed between his teeth as he weaved through the trees of the forest, hearing the whistle of gun fire behind him. It had been a mistake to take that job. He hadn't known that that one cabin held a group of people. When he had been asked to steal an item from a small cabin in the forest he had expected a hermit...not a gang of burly men with rifles.
So now he was racing through the forest, being chased by a group of men with guns. He came across the waterfall just in time to feel a fiery pain in his leg. With a short shout he toppled forward, crashing into the water. He kept to the surface, whincing in pain as a small cloud of blood surrounded his leg.
The group of men emerged from the forest, chuckling darkly as one cocked a rifle, pointed straight at him. However, they did not fire for a couple had gotten a look of the...crocodile person by the waterfall.

Zentesh's eyes suddenly moved to the trees where he heard a rustling through the forest. Then he heard a sound. Gunfire, In his meditation area. Looks like he was going to have some fun after all.
He got onto his knees and pulled out his sword from the scabbard, raising himself up off the ground and in a defensive position. A boy came out of the forest, followed by a group of men. Zentesh grinned a grin. Someone was being hunted. Probably a criminal. He sheaved his sword back into the scabbard and jumped in front of the group of men.
"Good afternoon, you've seemed to disturb my meditation ground. May I ask why you are running around the forest, disturbing the peace and tranquility with your guns and your tempers?" He sized them up. Humans they appeared to be. by the looks of it, and quite armed and hot tempered. He looked back at the boy. Frightened, and foolish, he thought.

Sean was stunned by the creature now standing in front of him. This could go one of many ways. He was supicious because they were chasing him and they were supicious because they were actually chasing him. He could only hope that they wouldn't pick a fight with this creature.
It was lucky for him that these men were not looking for a difficult fight. They were not wanting to pick a fight with this...monster. They lowered their guns, "You are protecting a thief," one said calmly but there was a hint of anger in his voice, but he was trying not to direct it at the creature before him.
"I am not a thief!" Sean lied loudly, putting his acting skills to work. He had dozens of personalities...why not use one now. "My name is Liam Neil and I am not a thief," he looked up to the creature, "I got lost and I went asking for directions but as soon as I came to the door of their cabin they came after me." The men hadn't asked questions, thank god, when he had tried to open the door. Yes...he hadn't knocked...but he could pretend that he thought it was empty.

Zentesh rolled his eyes and sighed. He turned to the men who were chasing 'Liam'. "Take what he stole from him then leave." He muttered, pointing in the direction that the part had come from. "He may be a thief, but even I know you really don't want blood on your hands. If he's not a thief, he won't have what you're looking for and you've been hunting an innocent man. If he is, he'll have what you're looking for and you can take it from him and leave." He crossed his arms and waited.

"I didn't take anything," Sean said in a huff, and his true feelings matched quite well with how his character should be feeling. Liam was upset because he 'wasn't a thief' so the frustration showed. Sean was angry because he hadn't actually stolen the item...he had just walked through the door and the guns were trained on him.
"Sir," the leader of the men spoke up, clearing his throat. "We do not plan on killing the lad, we merely want to know who sent him to come into our territory. He wouldn't have come to steal from us for no reason...someone must have sent him."
"I am not a thief," Sean continued, trying his best to convince the creature before him that he was the one telling the truth. "Please believe me."

Zentesh sighed. He turned to the group of men. "If he hasn't stolen anything from you, then he's not a thief. You can't just kill a person for trespassing on your lands. He should probably be imprisoned, yes, but you shouldn't kill him." He turned back to 'Liam'.
"If you have anything of theirs, give it back and we can leave."

"I don't have anything of theirs-" Sean began, being earnest in his words but before he could explain further the men interrupted again.
"We still wish to question him," one said sternly, "We would not kill him until we know everything about him."
Sean stood in the water, swaying a little bit and his leg stung. He had almost forgotten in the water that he had been hurt. He turned and moved down again, scooting up the stones to the bank of the water and pulled up his pant leg. While bloody...it was just a graze...it looked more like a burn than a bullet wound. "I'm not going with you," he scoffed angrily.
