Lena walked briskly into the Town Square, heading toward a wall covered layers and layers of flyers and advertisements. Her petite size compared to that of the large wall intimidated her, by the fact that her medium sized poster was not going to catch anyone's attention. And she needed people to see this... SOON.. Lena stapled it over flyers that went back to several years ago, and stood back to admire its bright neon orange colour. The sign said: HAFENSTADT INN POSITIONS OPEN FOR WAITRESS, INN CLERK AND BELL HOP SEE THE BARTENDER LENA AT THE HAFENSTADT INN FOR MORE DETAILS. She smiled at her accomplished mission for the day. She only hoped that someone would apply soon because she needed help... FAST...

"That seems to be a problem, doesn't it?" The ancient Raks muttered, carrying his own roll of job offers. "Most people that come to Coast Lamiere are drifters. They come by boat, they wander the land, get bored, then hop the next boat to Hotep."
He sighed, "There's such a lack of employment these days. Do you mind?"
He posted up his own advertisment next to hers. The Magic Boutique is now hiring! Have a talent at magic? Reading or writing? Tomb raiding?
If you said yes to one of these! Come to the Magic Store on Merchant Alley!
Now hiring Scribes, Druids, Clerics, Clerks

Lena sighed and said, "I'm in dire need of help at the Inn. It almost feels like i am the only one there..." She looked over to his ad and it stirred a feeling of intrigue within her. "Hey, those sound like great jobs to have. Assasins aren't really needed in Lamiere."

"A world of innocents have no need for killers." Raks mused, taking out his pipe and liting the end with a finger. "Or wizards. This world is young, but I see a strange potential. We're in the middle of a trading lane, and that always brings drifters. Drifters bring with them money, poverty and greed. The skills of an assassin can be translated into other job. Good luck with finding employees. There's not enough people on this island to fill a battlecruiser."

"Thanks," she slowly replied. "I hope you find what you're looking for as well. If this part time gig doesn't work out for me, maybe I can come work for you. there's so much I need to know and learn about my powers." A sloft smile etched across her face as she realized that Raks could be the one person in Lamiere that could help her tame her gift.

Raks mused over what she had said. "Hmm, your powers huh?" He mused, "And what is it about your powers you would like to know?"
He looked this woman up and down. She was strikingly beautiful in her own way. Something of the air around her was magical. Not bad for an assassin. Bloody assassins. The world seemed full of people looking to kill each other.
"I'm getting to old to think about the deaths of others." He suddenly murmured. "I came to this world looking for some place to hang my bones. Are you sure you're ready to learn your dark secrets?"

Surprised and alarmed by his abruptness, Lena replied, "Well, I'm not sure... I'll have to think about it...But my occupation and my reasons for entering it are not your concern."
Her dark past was the clear reason that vengence still drove her to kill for hire. the rush of taking a life, feeling that power, that strong eminence made her vengence justifiable...

Raks smiled. She's quite amusing, he thought to himself. Always the assassins way of thinking it's justice. Well, it's better than them killing for amuse I supposes. It was interesting how she said none of his business as well. Could she possibly be ashamed of her job?
"So be it." Raks mused, "The path of knowledge is not for everyone. If you do seek the ways to tame your powers and to confront your 'secrets', you can find me at the Magic Store. If not, I wish you warmth and happiness. Blessed be."
With that he gave a bow and waddled off into the crowd.

Bewilered, Lena stood there in awe of the occuring events, unable to understand what had happened. Why was Raks so concerned with whether or not I'm willing to ask for his help? Still unable to cope, She continued to put up her ads around the Town Square, a lingering feeling of confusion still around her.

Freyn walked into the town square, looking around curiously at everything. He had never been here before, and the new sights and people were pleasant attractions. He noticed on the walls there were several posters put up. One was a wanted poster, with a picture of a man asking 'Have you seen this Jerk?' but the one that caught his eye looked as if it had been recently put up. It was an advertisement for available jobs at an establishment called 'Hafenstadt Inn,' which was perfect for him since he really needed money. He had misplaced his wallet, and replacement wallets, numerous times during his travels; he assumed that a number of his wallets must have fallen out of his pocket when people bumped into him, without him realizing it. He took down the flier, then noticed a woman putting up the very same fliers. He jogged over, and smiling, asked, "Excuse me, are you the Mistress Lena I must speak to in order to apply for a job?"

Lena quickly turned around to see who was speaking to her, and found that a young man around her age was the owner of the voice. She smiled at the tall blonde and replied, "Why yes i am. Hi! how are you?" Extending her hand for a handshake, she continued, "What are you applying for? We have many positions open." The young man, this Freyn was quite intriguing to Lena. The way his blonde hair caught rays of sunlight in the subtle breeze, his tall slender figure towering over her. He, would be the help she needed at the Inn, and she had never felt such a large sense of relief.

"I am quite fine, thank you for asking," Freyn replied, taking her hand, leaning over it and kissing it. Then released it and stood straight again, and continued, "My name is Freyn Decaent and it would be an honour to serve in any of the positions that you are hiring for." He broke his noble attitude, however, when he paused, and smiling sheepishly scratched the back of his head nervously. His words tumbled out quickly and awkwardly as he explained, "I would gratefully accept any post you give me. I do not have much experience in these matters, but I would do my best to meet your standards Mistress."

Lena chuckled, and said "Please just call me Lena! No formalities are needed. As for your job, I need help the most at the Inn, checking in and out travelers and attending to their needs and things. I will pay you 9 dollars an hour. you can even help out at the bar every so often if you'd like!"
Realizing that she had just dumped every job on him that needed filling, her face flushed and quickly replied, "I'm so sorry! whatever position you feel comfortable in is fine with me....."

Freyn smiled, excited; Lena was actually going to hire him. "It is perfectly all right," he replied. "If you wish me to do all that, I will happily accept the work. And I thank you for being most generous with your wages." Freyn had absolutely no job experience, and though having no idea what fair wages were, believed that his kind benefactress would not pay unfairly. He started to bow to her, but caught himself midway, remembering she had told him not to be formal, and he did not want to disobey the first order she had given him. He straighted and scratched the nape of his neck out of nervous habit, and said, "I am completely at your service Mis-...sorry, Lena."

Lena giggled and replied, "please! you aren't my subject. if you want you can start tomorrow! i need help as soon as possible! I hope to see you bright and early tomorrow morning. Bye Freyn!" With a wave, Lena wandered off, very pleased indeed that someone would be helping her out. Now only if another could join Freyn at the Inn....
