"Let me guess," She began, backing off, but still on the offensive. "By your manner and general perplexity of the world, you grew up in a close-knit family environment. " She circled him inspecting his person, as if hoping to find something. "The only people you've ever known, you've trusted with your life. Am I right?" She stopped at looked at his face.

"I lived with my mother..." Shin replied slowly, not really sure where this girl was leading their conversation. But it would be rude to just refuse to speak with her. "And she was very close to me...why do you ask?" It was being rude of her though, prying so much into his family history.

"You know that safe, warm, puppy-dog feeling you get when you're with that dear, sweet mother of yours?" Her eyes were piercing as she stepped closer, to him. Soon, she was looking into his eyes with an daunting and unyielding stare. 'Divide that by about a million broken promises, broken dreams and broken hearts, and that's about as much trust as you can expect from the real world. " She moved back, closing her eyes and waving her hand in an unaffected manner. "I beg of you to forgive my assumption." She spouted nonchalantly before trotting off in the direction of the tavern, motioning for him to follow.

Shin grimaced, hearing that from this girl only made his experiences more realistic. He hadn't been treated very well outside of his home and the small village close by. But he hadn't expected people to be nice to him...they weren't used to him and he was part demon...he had a presence about him that was unfamiliar. He couldn't expect people to trust him, let alone like him.
"I know what the real world is like," he commented strongly, "My mother told me all about it and your assumption is quite weak in comparison." His mother had warned him...countless times of the dangers of the 'real world'.

She felt emboldened enough to laugh at his comment, but suppressed it with with her deep self-amiration. How would a guffaw appear to this newbie? "Well I'm glad she was considerate enough to tell you that, at least." She remarked. Her eyes drifted back to him, becoming hooded with shadowed amusement. "But I must enquire, is that why you were so afraid of me?"

"My mother warned me about women and I do not take those warnings lightly," Shin retorted with a shrug. They were dangerous creatures overall, ruthless and merciless. They would do anything to achieve their goals and they were so determined...never unhinging their jaws to release their prey once they had ahold of it. "Women are dangerous," was the only thing he mentioned aloud.

"Huh." She finally said, after giving him claim careful consideration. "I suppose you have a point. Though I have no real experience on the matter, my general observation do insist that women are a cruel sex." But that didn't make sense, did it? She allowed herself to recall Emmett for a brief while. She was there the day that he'd heard of his wife's death....his collapse against the wall, the expression on his face, seemed genuine, as if the loss of his woman had been exceedingly more painful than their marriage had been. Soso could make no claims of herself, but if Emmett's wife had been as 'dangerous' as the man said, why had Emmett never been the same after the news? "But," she began, with a slight pause, "how would you explain love?"

"Love?" Shin questioned, looking to Soso with a perplexed stare. "Love is the emotion between a mother and her child..." His mother had described it to him all the time. "It's the ultimate emotion...unbreakable and consistant. It can never change, no matter what one does." He blinked his eyes in silence. His mother had also described how people came to believe that they loved other people...but that love was fickle...breakable...false. That love could be ruined and spoiled...it wasn't as satisfying as true love.

"So you're saying romantic love doesn't exist between a man and a woman? That seem a fair bit unbelievable." She looked at him skeptically. "That would mean every child brought into this world is formed from an illusion of an emotion." She raised a brow, in slight condescension. "Here be the ultimate question," she began slowly, interested to see if he'd be caught in the inquiry. "Under what conditions do you think you were born? Was your mother a auctioned bride? Was it arranged?" She stepped closer peering into his face. "Was she a w hore?"

Shin was afraid of women, that was true but her comment stung so badly that the human emotion of fear was banished. His eyes narrowed and his hand shot out, grabbing the collar of her shit and pulling her inches from his face. His eyse lost their human attributes, becoming cold and full of fury. Insulting a man's mother, especially when someone like Shin was so attached, was never a wise move.
"My mother..." he growled, his voice now low and raspy...another note that his demon blood was manifesting at a rapid rate. "My mother was so desperate for love that she allowed a demon to defile her...If someone had tried to love her it would never have happened and I wouldn't exist. But no one loved her, no one tried to love her so she was forced to love the demon child she gave birth to." His fury was unmatched to any feeling of anger in his past...the insult to his mother twisting his mind.

Soso's eyes widened until the initial shock at the strangers sudden aggressive actions wore off. She hadn't been expecting him to set off like that, but she didn't say anything. Instead, Soso watched him through clear eyes, her mouth a gentle line lacking any general character. With a slow, tentative, but unyielding intention, piercing from beneath the smoothness of her skin, underneath the layers of dark hair, rose a pair of fine, delicate strips. The parchment reached out like hands, until they connected with the wrists of the man holding her hostage.
Quietly they curled loosely around his skin, moving up to hold his forearms, cradling them in their effort to hold the woman up. They were not tight, nor binding, but soft and present, encouraging something they could have spoken had they had words to offer. "My sympathies to your mother, then." She began, watching the swirl of inhuman contempt in the other's eyes. The paper squeezed gently. "Should I ever meet her one day, I will feel obliged to tell her that her love has been well-placed."

Shin was not alarmed by the paper winding up his arms, he had strength enough to tear the paper in pieces. However, Soso's words did not invoke such a reaction. His eyes lost their animalistic appeal and his growling sneer softened to a gentle frown. He loosened his grip on her collar, allowing her to stand on her own again. "I'm sorry..." he said softly, his eyes moving to the ground as his human disposition returned.
"Sometimes...things like that happen...when I get angry," he muttered in explanation for his rash reactions to her earlire comments. He lowered his hands to his sides weakly, not sure if this woman was now going to devour his soul for his reaction. "I'm sorry..." he commented a secound time.

Soso stared for a moment, blinked, and allowed herself to spare him a one-sided smile. "No need for the apology, " she remarked, straightening her clothes with careful precision. "It's just been so long since I've talked to anyone who still gives a damn about their mother. Had I one, and you said along the lines, your ass would be grass right now." She patted down the pulled material of her shirt, trying to reform it back into place with not avail. "Hoo.." she breathed out under her breath. "Quite the grip you have there, Mr. Kong." She abandoned her attempts to fix herself and looked over at her companion. "But I feel that I must correct you some. Women are-" she leaned forward and raised an index index. She continued conspiratorially, "not the horrible monsters that you've been led to believe they are. While, yes, there are a scant few who want to do nothing but rip heads off, the majority are simpering and quite harmless little things, who are just looking for someone to make an honest woman out of them." She peered at him suggestively. "But I take it you're not interested in those types, are you?"

Shin tilted his head to the side as he listened to her talk, the referance to this 'Kong' personality was confusing and he had to guess that the man had a strong grip...could he be a demon as well? Most demons were strong though only a few could actually refrain themselves from eating helpless humans whenever their bellies heaved. He ignored the comment however and let Soso continue with her rant. When she told him of women 'ripping the heads off' of people his suspicions were only confirmed and he took a step back to distance the pair.
However, she continued to mention that most were 'harmless', something he didn't believe in the least. "I cannot believe you on the weak part," he replied with a shake of his head. Women were sly creatures, his mom had told him...'when they want something they will stop at nothing to have it and once they have it they will throw it away.' She had told him then that if a women ever held any 'intense' interest in him, and acted like all was fine and merryand that they were the best of friends...or more so, he should flee as soon as possible.
"Women are considered to be intellectually superior to men..." he commented, repeating the words his mother had used so often. "They have methods and devices to their advantage that men could never hope to use...I've been told that even their emotions can bring men to their knees..."

Soso clucked her tongue and smiled. "Well your mother was right on that account." She said slowly and thoughtfully. But she stopped, and turned to him. She stared quietly, giving him a saddened look. "But can you honestly tell me that had your mother had been given what she really wanted-real love- do you think that she would have been so ungrateful as to throw away such a precious gift?" She sighed wearily. "Women are just as prone to emotions as men are, maybe even more so. Believe what you like now-" she paused, shaking her head, before continuing, "But once you've seen the true heartbreak of a woman, you may change your tune...." Her words trailed off. But after a few moments, her composure returned, and she faced him once again? "We almost forgot about that drink! Imagine that."
